Sunny Deol in Gadar 2
The gargantuan box office collection of Gadar 2 has been an eye-opener for many out there where not many would have anticipated the film to rake in such humungous numbers. Already having collected about 430 crores, the film is currently on its route to chase Baahubali 2 - The Conclusion and Pathaan's lifetime collection ahead.
But apart from these numbers, the film has also been witness to an array of controversies, and one of the biggest ones has been that of being anti-Pakistan and even proposing jingoism, among other things. Sunny Deol has opened up about various aspects in his interview with the BBC Asian Network.
Firstly, Deol said the film is not anti-Pakistan and claimed that the hatred between the two countries is mostly a political thing mainly because there is humanity and people on both sides of the soil. He also added how he has never run down anyone in the film and that the character of Tara Singh isn't that kind of person.
Furthermore, he talked about how it was also pointed out that every time the villain (played by Manish Wadhwa) does a horrible act in the film, a kalma (Islamic phrase) can be heard in the background. He mentioned and reiterated that the film shouldn't be taken too seriously because there is a lot of rubbish happening on digital platforms and news channels about it. But cinema should be taken from the point of view of entertainment, and obviously, there is an exaggeration in it because that is how one wants their characters to be; and if they aren't, then one doesn't enjoy them.
Deol has multiple projects lined up ahead, which includes Baap, where he co-stars Jackie Shrodd, Mithun Chakraborty, and Sanjay Dutt.
